As Chief Executive of Metasphere Limited (the Company), I am pleased to be able to outline to you the detail of our Company’s commitment to adopting environmental best practice and thus benefit the environment and our business effectiveness.
The Company will meet or exceed all relevant current or expected statutory regulations, official codes of conduct and other requirements that the Company adopts or may adopt.
It is committed to improve its environmental performance through a process of continual improvement.
In the course of its operations and activities and within resource constraints, the Company will improve its environmental performance by managing:
- Sustainable resource usage
- Waste minimisation and recycled materials
- Energy and efficiency
- Prevention of contamination
- Purchasing
- Transportation
Where manufacturers, suppliers and contractors are used, the Company will specify that where possible such organisations will be certified or self certified to meet the ISO14001- 2004 standard.
Sustainable resource usage
The Company will:
Conserve energy, water and other resources, particularly those being scarce or non renewable in nature, while still providing a healthy, safe and comfortable working environment for all employees
Ensure that any products used or derived from wildlife are from sustainable sources and comply with EU and international trading rules such as the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).
Waste minimisation and recycled materials
We will reduce waste through re-use and recycling and by using refurbished and recycled products and materials wherever such alternatives are safe, economical and suitable.
Energy and efficiency
We will ensure, where practicable, that buildings we occupy are designed, constructed and operated to optimize their environmental performance.
We will minimise energy consumption by ensuring that any equipment not required will be turned off until it is needed.
Prevention of contamination
The Company will monitor relevant discharges and emissions to air, land and water to assess what measures are necessary to reduce pollution or the risk of pollution:
The Company will not use (or in limited cases will phase out by a specific date) ozone depleting substances and minimize the release of greenhouse gases, volatile organic compounds, and other substances damaging to health and the environment.
Purchasing
The Company will monitor its purchases and
- Ensure that trends show a reduction in the usage of products which are based on unsustainable or non-recyclable elements.
- Identify methods to introduce further efficiencies – e.g. less paperwork, more environmentally conscious delivery methods, etc.
The Company will encourage manufacturers, suppliers and contractors through supply and service contracts to improve their environmental performance.
Transportation
The Company’s policy is that staff travelling on business will use public transport in favour of a private or Company car (unless it is impractical, for time or other reasons).
Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations 2006
The Company acknowledges its responsibilities under the above regulations to ensure that product it places on to the market is responsibly recycled and disposed of at the end of life.The Company uses specialist third parties to undertake these activities on its behalf.
