Our Environmental Commitments

In the course of its operations and activities and within resource constraints, the Company will improve its environmental performance by managing:

  • Sustainable resource usage
  • Waste minimisation and recycled materials
  • Energy and efficiency
  • Protection of the Environment
  • Purchasing
  • Transportation

Where manufacturers, suppliers and contractors are used the Company will specify that these contractors adopt the Company policy.

The Company will:

  • Conserve energy, water and other resources, particularly those being scarce or non renewable in nature, while still providing a healthy, safe and comfortable working environment for all employees.
  • Ensure that any products used or derived from wildlife are from sustainable sources and comply with EU and international trading rules such as the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species (CITES).

Waste minimisation and recycled materials

The Company will reduce waste through re-use and recycling and by using refurbished and recycled products and materials wherever such alternatives are safe, economical and suitable.

Energy and efficiency

The Company will ensure, where practicable, that buildings it occupies are designed, constructed and operated to optimize their environmental performance.
The Company will minimise energy consumption by ensuring that any equipment not required will be turned off until it is needed.

Protection of the Environment

The Company will monitor relevant discharges and emissions to air, land and water to assess what measures are necessary to reduce pollution or the risk of pollution:
The Company will not use (or in limited cases will phase out by a specific date) ozone depleting substances and minimising the release of greenhouse gases, volatile organic compounds, vehicle emissions and other substances damaging to health and the environment.

Environmental Commitment

The Company will monitor its purchases and:

  • Ensure that trends show a reduction in the usage of products which are based on unsustainable or non-recyclable elements.
  • Identify methods to introduce further efficiencies – e.g. less paperwork, more environmentally conscious delivery methods, etc.

The Company will encourage manufacturers, suppliers and contractors through supply and service contracts to improve their environmental management.

The Company’s policy is that staff travelling on business will use public transport in favour of a private or Company car (unless it is impractical, for time or other reasons).

Furthermore when two or more staff travel together it is Company policy for them to travel together unless the saving on transportation sharing is outweighed or negated by the additional distance travelled (when picking up and dropping off).
