Master Control (MC) is a client/server telemetry or SCADA system. The MC client software is a Windows application while the server components run on Red Hat Enterprise Linux. MC is designed to work with many different RTUs using different communications protocols and media. The client software allows users to view telemetry data graphically using pictures (mimics), and trend graphs. Summaries, reports and tabular trends show telemetry data in a tabular format. An alarms window allows the management of alarms.

  • Hierarchical data management – A unique two dimensional data organization allows users to readily manage their data as well as providing strict controls on access to this data.
  • Data display – Traditional telemetry/SCADA functionality such as trend and mimic displays are provided as standard.
  • Scalability – systems can be expanded up to unrivalled proportions.
  • High availability – real time database core operates in a duty standby arrangement and this allows seamless switch over in the event of server or communications link failure for user or RTU. Availabilities of greater than 99.999% are consistently achieved.
  • Alarm management – provides a wide range of configurable options to reduce the number of alarms being received. A highly reliable solution allows automatic routing of unprocessed alarms to higher supervisory levels and/or routing to external devices such as mobile phones or pagers.
  • Historian and web access – Options are available to support a long term data historian, based on Oracle RDBMS and web access to telemetry/SCADA data.
  • Business systems integration – a wide range of standard interfaces facilitate the integration of telemetry/SCADA with business systems such as GIS, asset management and work management.
  • Control – can be used to create and download control programs to RTUs from a central point. Additionally, the real time database engine can run automation programs to manage wide area events such as sewage overflows during rainstorms. An integrated debugger is supplied to aid in the development of real time database automation programs.
  • Communications – supports polling of RTUs at regular intervals using diverse communications mechanisms including fixed link, scanning radio, PSTN, GSM, GPRS, IP WANs, and satellite.
  • RTU Protocols – Master Control supports open standard protocols such as Modbus and DNP3.0 to allow communication with most common products. Metasphere’s functionally rich proprietary protocol, Medina, is supported by all our RTU’s and is highly optimised to reduce network bandwidth.
